  • THE CHIEF is headed by the # 3751 Santa Fe Northern (6-38055), and has 7 Heavyweight Passenger Cars (1 Baggage Car, 1 Combination Baggage and Passenger Car, 3 Pullman Cars, 1 Diner and 1 Observation
  • The CHIEF was Santa Fe's most luxurious heavyweight extra fare train between Chicago and Los Angeles, and was hauled by 4-8-4's once these high speed locos were added to the fleet
  • Many passengers going or coming to and from New York on the 20th Century Limited or the Broadway Limited took the Chief west out of Chicage
