146W PRE-WAR PASSENGER SET WITH 225E LOCO #1
| The 225 loco and tender are Like New, and the cars look Like New from a foot or so distance, but have pin hole kicks here and there on all three along with small scratches, so we grade the set as a very nice Excellent (C7)Note that the observation car has a painted red railing indicating production just as World War Two started and silver was no longer availableTender is the heavy all metal 2235, normally stolen from 225 locos to be used with 1964 773 Hudsons with had sub-scale plastic tendersThe 146 set normally had a 2600 Pullman, 2601 Observation, and 2602 Baggage car with automatic box coupers, or earlier 600 series passenger cars with manual box couplers. This set has one 600 Pullman, one 2600 Pullman and a 601 Observaion, indicative of the chaos at the factory to get trains shipped before running out of parts and shutting down for wartime production |
