LIONEL 186 - FIVE PRE-WW2 METAL BUNGALOWS IN A BOXED SET
|
Go ahead and question our sanity when we list an item made in 1923 as Like New (C8), but the five bungalows are perfect! The box and box top are complete with all flaps, with a complete original Lionel labelThe top is missing just one two inch chunk at one cornerThe inside spacer holding the buildings is also complete, albeit pressed downWe will admit we have sinned in applying the Like New rating because we found a round 1/16th of an inch blemish on two roofs (no color change, just a light dulling of the surface lustre) and a couple of dings (less than a 1/32 of an inch) on anotherBut we are steadfast sinner and are maintaining our grading of like new as best describing overall condition Book values for the 186 kit with complete box, insert holding the 5 bungalows, and 5 complete bungalows have ranged from $600 to $1000 for excellent grade, up to $1800 for a like new specimen!!!Rarity is 6 or 7 on a scale of 1 to 8The box is an extremely tough piece to find in any condition ( Don Shaw) FOR YOUR FURTHER INFORMATION WE HAVE INCLUDED OUR FULL GENERIC DESCRIPTION OF LIONEL'S BUNGALOWS...Built from 1923 until 1942.
