| The family that bought this set in 1946 really lucked out by getting the rare versions of the crane and ore carsJust a few of these sets were shipped with the most desirable cars from 1946 - the 3459 ore car with unpainted aluminum bin (instead of the regular black bin) and the rare 2460 six wheel crane with a glossy grey painted cab instead of a black cabOf importance is the lettering on the grey painted crane cab which is heat-stamped, authenticating it as originalThe 2420 work caboose with searchlight is also very difficult to find, selling in the $275-$325 range these daysGraded Like New, this 1946 set has the rare original and spectacular 1946 version of the 671 turbine loco without an E-unit lever sticking through the top of the loco The E-unit (reversing unit) is controlled by jacks in the locomotive cabThe boiler front does not have any of three versions of the keystone - they just sometimes missed applying the decalsEverything is Like New except for some traces of rust on the metal pipes on the flat car and small scratches on the roof of the crane.
