| This 1947 set consists of a 2332 five striped GG-1 with Madison, Irvington and Manhattan passenger cars. All have the correct same number - "2625"Condition is extraordinaryVarious marks are obscure enough that it is very difficult to picture them, but we tried WITH MAGNIFICATIONOn the Manhatten car the picture shows the 3 dings on one end; there is one more at the other end that would not show along with a 1/16' rub at the curved bottom of the roofThe Madison car has a 1/8th retouch above one door which might have been done in the factory because there are absaolutly no other signs of any paint flaking or detoriartion on the Madison or any other carThe GG-1 has partial stripes at the center of the loco on one side from handling, with stripes almost complete on the other sideTo grade this set anything less than Like New to describe overall appearance would be a disservice even though technically the grade is excellent; it is hard to find these cars in better concition;the marks are not readily visibleDoyle book value for a set in Like New condition is $5,000, and $3000 for ExcellentOne 2625 box is original while all others are reproductionsTrack not included. |
