| This 1949 NYC version of the 2151 set can be distinguished from the 1948 models by the positioning of the GM decal. Whereas the 1948 model had decals applied above the "Built by Lionel" lettering, the 1949 models had the decals moved to the side door just forward of the letteringEven back in 1949 Lionel knew how to tempt us collectors with variations - but thank you, Lionel for all the fun!The locos have Lionel's original horizontal motors which can make the locos creep oh so slowly you think they are hardly moving, or can roar down the track at lightning speed and almost sound like a real diesel!Everything is Like New except for the tank car which has marks on top, a small mark on one side of the operating box car, small chips on the other pieces. There are boxes for all cars and locos - all are reproductions except the box car box which is missing all end flaps at one end and one interior end flap at the otherComes with CTC lockon and original instruction sheets for the loco, searchlight car, dump car, and operating box car. |
