2345 WESTERN PACIFIC F3 AA UNITS
 |
| 2345 Western Pacific F3's are possibly the rarest F3 to find in nice shape because of the very limited production run, distribution mainly on the West coast, and because of the delicate nature of the silver paintTHIS ONE IS A BEAUTIFUL REPRODUCTION - detectable only because the "WESTERN PACIFIC" lettering is not heat-stamped; it is otherwise totally accurateThe bases are original and probably have not been repaintedThe lettering is rubber-stamped or silk screenedIt took me 12 years to find an acceptable 2345 for my collection and it was the only F3 in my collection that was not mintAlso, I could never find a duplicate 2345 either - I had mint duplicates for all other F3's except for the clear shell 2333 Santa Fe and the block lettered 2333 Santa FeThe 2345 reproductions are also very difficult to find, (with 275 having been made) so I don't mind recommending this one - it could be your only chance to round out your collection with a perfect looking specimen if you don't have one!The person who made the fakes somehow managed to obtain approximately 275 original 2343/2345 unpainted shells and sold them as originals for around $4000 (mounted on identical 2343 Santa Fe bases which were 'common' at timeIt is important to note that many 2343/2345 shells are bowed, as is this pair, verifying this pair is 2 of the 275 fakes involved from this episode) As members of the standards copmmittee , we were never sure how they obtained these bodies, and also the bodies used for the fake Baltimore and Ohio F3'sAfter we produced our video in 1986 a number of people brought in 2345's and (2368 B&O's) for verification that they had originals - unfortunately many were fakesReproduction boxes are included.
